Brit School, the BBC, and the Beatles

Friday Night is Music Night on BBC Radio 2, hosted fantastic performances from the final year Musical Theatre students at the BRIT School. Performing with the BBC Concert Orchestra they sang songs from musicals such as Wicked, Guys and Dolls, and Hairspray, to name a few.
Brit School students rehearse at Abbey Road Studios

The live event from the Mermaid Theatre, London was a great credit to the staff at the Brit School and the students themselves. Hard to believe they are still only 17 or 18 year olds, sounding much more like final year drama school students, or young professionals.

The Brit School is the only free performing arts and technology school in the country. My son Joe (16), is a student there, in the year below, so he hopes to be perform next year if the concert is repeated.

The Beatles? Well, Joe was lucky enough to be asked to photograph rehearsals, at the famous Abbey Road Studios. The sound of the BBC Concert Orchestra and the sixty strong chorus of students made the hairs on the back of his neck stand up!

Congratulations to everyone involved for a memorable evening.<a
